Not only is this book rife with animal cruelty, it's also woefully misogynistic, especially in its equating of women's sexuality with evil. In this book, a dog is painfully possessed (maybe?) by a mean woman (maybe?) and then slaughtered, beheaded, minced, and fed to party guests. The violence against animals, used as some kind of lazy plot device, is especially disturbing. I found this to be a turgid and deeply unpleasant mess.
